Roof Anchors
It is the duty and responsibility of the Building Owner, and a mandatory requirement, to
have fall arrest equipment and roof anchors inspected by a competent person. Annual
anchor inspections are required to ensure continuous certification and avoid delay or
needless risk-taking when the system suddenly needs to be used. Some buildings
postpone the inspection of roof anchors until they have a project that requires the use of
them. That could be many years! It’s the law to have an inspection done every 12
months.
Five-year load testing of anchors is also required to verify the strength and operation of
each anchor.
